Kasper Bjorke
Introduction:
Copenhagen DJ and producer Kasper Bjorke has been on the circuit for over a decade, but has only now got around to releasing an album of his own, In Gumbo. We love it and we love him; whcih is why we asked him to headline our very first Fenchurch Lodown party at Cookies in Berlin. It was definitely one to remember, culminating in the best Sunday brunch ever with one of the most down-to-earth, unaffected superstar DJs we have ever worked with.
Describe your music / style
A mixture of indie and electronic club music from minimal to post disco
What does In Gumbo mean?
It's a Cajun soup but also it's a reference to the many different artists featuring on the album
Career highlights?
Playing live at roskilde festival at the arena stage infront of 15.000 people with my other bandproject Filur (together with Tom Boy from Who Made Who), working with great singers like Stina Nordenstam and The Pierces and the release of my first solo album, In Gumbo on the US indie/dance label Plant Music.
Your tips for Copenhagen - best places to...
Party on a Friday eve
I would have to say Vega – it's the best club, its a beautiful venue + im a resident there.
Meet friends for a beer
Riesen in Oehlenschlaegersgade on Vesterbro, a small bar with a very local atmosphere.
Take your partner out to dinner
If I had a partner I would take her to Restaurant Famo or if it should be very fancy: Restaurant Noma.
Hang out on a sunny day
The harbour bath on Islands Brygge where you can sunbathe and swim in a floating, wooden swimmingpool, or the parks around Copenhagen –f.ex. Kongens Have (Kings Garden)
Pass away a rainy day
Go to the movies or to the Museum of Modern Art - or Louisiana Museum, which is a bit north of Copenhagen
Spend you paycheck
In some of the many nice shops in central Copenhagen, like Henrik Vibskov, Wood Wood or Storm.
